YouTube Star Sophia Grace Brownlee ‘Leaves’ Disney’s ‘Into The Woods’
Sophia Grace Brownlee will not be appearing in Disney’s ‘Into The Woods’, and seems to have been replaced by child star Lilla Crawford, following the young Brit’s rise to fame on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The seven year-old YouTube star, who hails from Essex, was tipped for the starring role as Little Red Riding Hood in Disney’s adaption of the musical after she and her cousin, Rosie McClelland, won over hearts with their adorable Nicki Minaj covers on the video site before being picked up by popular daytime chat show host Ellen.
Now that production on the project has begun, it appears Sophia is no longer a member of the cast and rising star Lilly will play the coveted role after she impressed as Annie in the Broadway production.
Disney announced on Monday that the young actress will play “a smart and spunky girl who journeys into the woods, finding unexpected adventures along the way.”
It’s not yet clear as to why Sophia will no longer take part but Lilly will appear alongside big names such as Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and Anna Kendrick.
Filming is now underway in England for a December 25, 2014 release.
