You Go Girl! Demi Lovato Explains Why She Loves Her ‘Curvy Figure’ And Latina Heritage

Demi Lovato has publicly talked about her struggles with her weight in the past, but now the singer is revealing why she’s also loving her curvy figure.

As someone with Latina heritage, Demi has realized that having a curvy figure in the Latina community is actually something that is considered beautiful. Now that she has grown to appreciate her culture, she has therefore started to appreciate her body.

“Growing up in America, I never really appreciated my culture,” she said in the latest issue of Glam Belleza Latina. “I knew what being Hispanic was, but I thought that since I didn’t look Hispanic, I was white…I tried to conform to what everyone thinks is beautiful. But my genetics gave me a curvy figure, and I’ve come to understand that in the Latina culture, that is beautiful.”

It’s for this reason that she no longer sees herself as fat and no longer hates her body.

“I no longer look at my body and think, ‘Oh my gosh, I have such a fat butt.’ Or, ‘I hate my thighs,’” she added. “On some days I don’t love them. But, you know, that’s one of the things that makes me me.”

She also emphasizes the importance of self-love, otherwise it doesn’t matter how pretty others consider you to be.

“You can be the most beautiful woman in the world and see yourself as hideous,” she says. “You must love yourself. To look in the mirror and tell yourself that you’re a rock star, you know?”

Demi Lovato has taken her newfound confidence on the road, as she is currently on her world tour.
