X Factor Final 2013: Nicholas McDonald Delivers An Energetic First Performance

The X Factor Finalists are now just a few songs away from making their dreams become a reality. Performing at Wembley Arena and hoping to be crowned X Factor 2013 champion, Nicholas McDonald kicked off the final in style, singing Robbie Williams’ Candy.

Admitting “I can’t actually believe I’m here” after the group performance of ‘Lifted’ at the very start of the show, Nicky didn’t let the nerves get in the way of his first solo performance tonight.

Swooping down onto the stage in a hot air balloon and accompanied by dancers and acrobats in colourful costumes, the Scottish teen kicked off the show in style.

The support and energy from the crowd was electric, with Sharon Osbourne comparing the staging to a giant “Willy Wonker” factory and Nicole calling it “a trippy experience.”

However, Gary Barlow wasn’t as impressed with the performance confessing that he hopes the duet later is “better than that.”

Mentor Louis stuck up for his contestant though, telling him that Gary has never given him credit and Scotland should “show Gary who’s boss.”

The 17-year-old still has two more performances to go, including a duet with Westlife’s Shane Filan.

What did you think of Nicholas’ performance tonight?
