Will Theo James And Ian Somerhalder Battle It Out For Lead Role In Movie Adaptation Of Hush Hush?
Just as we were getting over the intense speculation surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey casting, it sounds like we have another casting battle to keep an eye on as fans begin to speculate over who will land the lead role in the movie adaptation of Becca Fitzpatrick’s bestselling novel, Hush Hush.
The rights for Fitzpatrick’s four part novel series were optioned back in 2012 but so far we’ve heard little about the first movie, which was originally scheduled to start shooting last autumn.
Fan speculation has stepped up a gear though with many debating that Divergent hunk Theo James could be up for the part of Patch Cipriano. Hush, Hush follows Nora Grey, a 16-year-old who catches the attention of Patch, her gorgeous, yet mysterious biology partner, who is later revealed to be a fallen angel desperate to be human again.

No official announcement has been made about the casting of Nora and Patch but reports have placed Brit actor Theo as a contender following the success of another book to big screen project Divergent. Fans have pointed to Theo’s role in Underworld where he played a vampire as the perfect practice for the fantasy role. But will the actor really want to commit to another major franchise on top of his ties to the Divergent series?
Ian Somerhalder could be another contender thanks to his bad boy ways as Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries. After losing out on the Fifty Shades lead despite speculation that he could land the role of Christian, could Hush Hush be Ian’s ticket to big screen success?

Hush Hush’s author has admitted to EW previously though that she reckons it will be tricky to find the lead stars. “That’s always the hardest part to nail in any movie — making sure you get the right actors and that they’re portraying the characters well”, Fitzpatrick explains.
But the author does have two actors in mind for the lead roles. “I started writing Hush, Hush almost ten years ago, so I was picturing actors who are obviously now too old to play the parts. I wanted Steven Strait for Patch and Emmy Rossum for Nora, but that won’t work anymore.”
Since time has moved on, Fitzpatrick says she “would hope for someone that hasn’t been discovered yet”, which could put Ian and Theo out of the picture while their clearly above high school ages (29 and 35) may be another stumbling block.
