Ian Somerhalder is known for being an advocate of saving the environment and it appears he’s not the only one as a host of Hollywood A-listers have also got behind a new climate change documentary which they feature in.

Sharing his excitement about being a part of the project, Ian who plays the role of Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, took to Twitter to gush about his fellow celebrities – including Jessica Alba and Arnold Schwarzenegger – who appear on the special documentary with him.

He tweeted: “Wow, @YEARSofLIVING cast check this out!Im very stoked about this-just watched some of my episode.Really proud of it”, with a link to the movie database, imbd which showcased the full cast list.

However, he didn’t just speak about the documentary on the social networking site as he also spoke about the show during a press tour for the Showtime network. Speaking about the appearances of the celebrities in the show, The Hollywood Reporter quoted him as saying:

“These are not cameo appearances. We wanted people who had a real commitment to this issue.”

Schwarzenegger also added: “I always felt there was a communication gap in bringing ordinary people in and making them part of the movement.

“I think the environmental movement only can be successful if it’s simple and clear and makes it a human story.”
