Tom Hiddleston Handles Fame by Convincing Himself It’s Not Real

"Thor: The Dark World" Los Angeles Premiere - Arrivals

‘Thor’ actor Tom Hiddleston has achieved an overwhelming fame online as of late (fangirls ahoy!) and he admits that he has only one way of dealing with it all – by convincing himself it’s not real. He says his own fame is so crazy to him that he genuinely believes it’s all in his head and couldn’t possibly be reality. He explained:

‘It’s mad and bananas and amazing. But I can handle it for the simple reason that it genuinely feels like it’s not real. You know when you go to a fancy dress party and everyone looks incredible and there are crazy things hanging from the ceiling? For about five hours or so, you enter into another world and then, when you come out of it, you are sitting at home with a cup of tea and a biscuit and you’re thinking to yourself, “Well, that was weird. Fun, but weird.” That’s exactly what it feels like.’

Tom admits that it isn’t always easy and he says he can be quite vulnerable at times because he’s come to expect some difficulties in his life along the way:

‘I’m painfully aware of the fragility of things, because the hard bits are always just around the corner from the easy bits.’

He adds that internet fame has surpassed what he really expected to achieve and he’s so amazed by it:

‘What can I say? I just can’t say no. I’m basically a circus bear. Truly, everything that has happened to me has been beyond any reasonable expectations that I may have had.’
