Tom Cruise Willing To Pay £130,000 For Space Travel: ‘I’d Definitely Go’

Tom Cruise is known for his out of this world stunts in films such as Mission Impossible and the upcoming Oblivion, and now it transpires that the pint-sized superstar has designs on space travel. He’s said that he’d love a ticket on one of Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic flights, but only after a few people have tried it out, of course.

Tom’s desire to go intergalactic is a result of his lifelong respect for astronauts, and his childhood dream that one day we might be able to travel to other planets. While the Virgin Galactic flights won’t take men to Mars just yet, they’ll take those who can afford a ticket a little higher than the average aeroplane, a floaty 70,000ft.

Tom has made his intentions known, telling People magazine (US):

“I’m going to let a couple of other people test it out first but it would be great. I was always hoping when I was a kid that we would be travelling to different planets by now.

“I just remember watching the Apollo mission, you know, the landings.

“I admire what they do as astronauts, the commitment they have. They risk their lives. Wouldn’t you go? I’d definitely go.”

Tickets on Virgin Galactic are understood to be retailing for a cool £130,00, but considering Tom’s worth almost £180million, that’s no big deal. He’ll have to wait though, even if everything goes to plan, the first flights aren’t scheduled until 2014.
