Tim Lambesis, Christian Heavy Metal Singer, Arrested for Murder-for-Hire Plot
Tim Lambesis, lead singer of Christian Heavy Metal band ‘As I Lay Dying’ has been arrested for allegedly hiring someone to kill his estranged wife – it sounds like a Coen Brothers plot, but apparently it’s real? San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that it had received information Lambesis was “soliciting another individual” to murder his wife Meggan. The Department’s statement read:
“Information came to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department on May 2nd that Lambesis was soliciting another individual to kill his estranged wife, who resides in Encinitas. The Encinitas Detectives, The San Diego Fugitive Task Force and the Sheriff’s Special Investigation Division investigators immediately initiated an investigation. The investigation culminated this afternoon, when Lambesis solicited an undercover detective to kill his wife. He was then arrested, transported to the Encinitas Station, and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.”
In an interview he took part in early this year, Tim spoke about the band being labeled as Christian, stating that they don’t preach at shows but that religion does influence their songs:
“Five or so years ago when magazines would try and press that point we decided to stay silent on the spiritual topic so that they would have to pay attention to our music and nothing more,” he told Noisecreep. We didn’t preach at our shows, our goal has always been to just write the best music we can write. Of course religion has some influence on the things that we write about just like all of our life experiences do but as a band, we want to be judged on the music rather than what our personal beliefs are.”
The band was expected to a take part in an American tour with metal band Killswitch Engage later this month.
