Theo James And Shailene Woodley Are Back! Everything We Know About Insurgent So Far!

Insurgent, the second movie in the Divergent trilogy, will be released next March and while there’s still six months to go, there’s lots of stuff we already know about the dystopian drama. For those who aren’t already all over the series, you’ve still got time to catch up.

Check out Divergent, or even curl up with Veronica Roth’s amazing trilogy of books, before coming back ready for this. Here’s everything we know so far.

They’re Back!

Tris and Four, aka lovers Theo James and Shailene Woodley are going to be back in the lead roles. The incredible line-up from the first movie, also includes Jai Courtney, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, and Kate Winslet. So many big names!

Newcomers

There are also a whole load of new faces for Insurgent and we’re really excited about what they’re going to be doing on screen. Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts and Suki Waterhouse are just some of those joining the already stellar line up. We can’t wait to see how it changes the dynamic of the movie, having these big hitters on screen.

It might not stick to the book

It’s been hinted that it’s not exactly going to be a carbon cop of Roth’s book, James has previously said: “You have to honor the material for the first film because you have a fanbase, but when you come to the second one, if you you’ve done well with the first movie, you now have the ability to think outside the box,”

There’s a rival for Four

We have to say we did a little eye roll when we heard that news that Tris and Four are going to be broken up by new character, Edgar played by Johnny Weston. Love triangles, while create tension and put our main characters through the mill, it’s been done. Hunger Games and Twilight already have this covered and we were kind of looking forward to this type of movie exploring something else when it comes to relationships, other than jealousy.

Caleb gets a bigger story

Not giving anything away (although people who’ve read the book will know already) but Ansel Elgort gets way more of a meatier storyline, this time round and we can’t wait to see him make Caleb way more than just supporting role, like he was in the first movie.

We will get a Hunger Games and Insurgent double hit

Lionsgate are going to combine the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 with the first trailer of Insurgent, which makes sense because of the similar audience. The first official trailer will be shown before the movie when it’s released in November, so it’ll be a double treat when you head to the cinema.

The most important day of 2015 so far: March 20th will see the official release of the movie and we can’t wait!
