‘Some People Just Hated It’: How I Met Your Mother Ending Left Fans ‘Very Upset’ Claims Neil Patrick Harris

It appears not everyone was content with how, How I Met Your Mother came to an end earlier this year after Neil Patrick Harris admitted that some fans “just hated it.”

Appearing on The Late Show With David Letterman, the actor who played the role of Barney Stinson, admitted that the finale wasn’t to everyone’s tastes.

He said: “It wasn’t necessarily the happy ending that people were expecting but Carter and Craig – the executive producers and creators – knew this ending years ago and had played towards that.”

Believing that the dissatisfaction felt amongst the viewers was a good thing, Neil continued:

“Some people just hated it – [they] hated the ending [and] were very upset by it, and I think that’s a compliment to the show in a weird way ‘cos it means that they have grown up with these characters and feel like they want it to go a certain way.”

Proud to have been part of the show, the actor said: “I value that it’s a sitcom and a lot of people watched it to have laughs and to not have it become so dramatic and so emotional, but as we grow up – things happen, people pass away – you have kids, you have family!”
