Skyfall Writers Reveal Sam Mendes Is Back For Bond 24?
As ‘Skyfall’ continues to break records at the box office, screenwriting duo Robert Wade and Neal Purvis – who have worked on the films since ‘The World Is Not Enough’ – have confirmed that their time with 007 is over. But they dropped a MAJOR hint that director Sam Mendes will be back alongside Daniel Craig for Bond 24…
During a press conference at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, James Bond writer Neal Purvis confirmed that he and Robert Wade would not be making any more 007 films.
However he did let slip that John Logan (who co-wrote ‘Skyfall’) and Sam Mendes were already at work on Daniel Craig’s next cinematic outing as the iconic British spy:
“We’re very happy to have done five Bond movies. I think we’ve gotten it to a good place. I know that John Logan and Sam Mendes have come up with a plot for another one, which takes the pressure off because these films take up a lot of time.”
We would LOVE Mendes to get involved with Bond 24 – after all, his phenomenal success with the revamped format for the franchise, which saw ‘Skyfall’ fusing elements of classic Bond with a more modern story, has broken records all over the globe.
But is he just working on the story or will Mendes be perched in the director’s chair for Bond 24? Well, when asked if he would consider returning to the Bond franchise, Mendes told Time Out:
“I’ve enjoyed it enough to do it again. I think the choice is in the audience’s hands. If people love the movie and they want to see another one from the same people who brought you Skyfall, then that would mean a lot to me. I would feel like. ‘Well, actually there are people who really want to see it’.”
Mendes, we think the audience have spoken; come back for Bond 24.
