Simon Cowell Will Teach His Son to Appreciate People, Won’t Spoil Him With Inheritance

Reality judge Simon Cowell has spoken on his soon-to-be-born son and how he hopes to raise him right. Simon, who is expecting his first child with Lauren Silverman, commented that he doesn’t want his son to have an easy life just because he has millions in the bank – he wants to teach his son to earn what he deserves because it’s what makes life more enjoyable in his opinion:

”I never inherited anything in my life, and everything I have I had to earn. But I think that’s what made me enjoy my life more. I want my son to feel like he’s got to prove his own way and I’d like to do what my dad did for me.”

Simon adds that his late father Eric taught him to always appreciate people no matter what they do for a living and he wants to pass this along to his offspring too. He believes his own father was very wise and made him understand the right way to treat people:

”He once said to me, ‘You’ve got to realise that everyone around you has a sign on their forehead that says Make Me Feel Important’. I’ve always remembered that. You’ve got to understand that the guy who holds the door open is as important as the producer or the director, because it’s a job. I think that was the best piece of advice I was ever given.”

Simon is reportedly planning a festive proposal to Lauren and a source recently leaked that he has purchased a ring and is planning to pop the question while on vacation:

”Simon has an engagement ring, but is being secretive about the proposal. ‘Simon is flying to the Caribbean for the Christmas holiday. Lauren will join him for parts of the holiday trip. Simon could be planning a special holiday proposal. It seems he will definitely propose.”
