Simon Cowell Denies Ordering Demi Lovato To Lose Weight For X Factor USA

Simon Cowell’s spokesperson has fiercely denied that the mogul ordered Demi Lovato to lose weight for the new season of The X Factor USA.

The returning judge, who releases ‘Heart Attack’ in the UK next week (May 12), was rumoured by Star Magazine to have been told by her boss to lose 20 lbs.

Demi has publicly spoken out about body image pressures that young girls face as a result of celebrity culture, but the mag’s bogus source claimed: “Simon doesn’t expect Demi to be supermodel skinny, but he does want her to look like she’s in shape.

“He’s set a weight-loss goal of 20 lbs. for Demi and asked her to work hard on it through the spring and summer. [Simon] is very supportive of her battles and is going above and beyond to make sure she loses weight in a healthy way.”

Unsurprisingly, Cowell’s reps have been quick to shoot down the story.

“This story is complete lies,” they said. “Simon has never and would never, ever say this. It has been completely made up.”

Demi was confirmed weeks ago to be returning to the show this year, along with host Mario Lopez, who comes back without last year’s co-anchor Khloe Kardashian.

Two more judges are yet to be announced, with Kelly Rowland and Ne-Yo thought to be strong contenders.
