Sean Penn Auctioned Off His Gun Collection for Charlize Theron

51st Annual New York Film Festival - Centerpiece Gala Presentation of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" - Arrivals

Sean Penn and South African actress Charlize Theron appear to be in the middle of a whirlwind romance and now the actor has even auctioned off his gun collection for her. Sean’s extensive collection, which includes over 60 guns, was put up for charity auction after Sean was inspired to ditch his collection by Theron. Although he didn’t confirm this directly, he referred to her when he said that “a strong woman who happens to be from South Africa” changed his mind on gun ownership.  Sean commented:

“Being provoked by this aforementioned strong woman and considering how liberating of bulls–t and ugliness it would be not only get rid of the guns I have in the continental United States but also to destroy them, Jeff Koons and I had a chat the other day.”

He adds that artist Jeff Koons will make sure none of the guns are working when they’re sold in a newly sculpted form:

“The highest bidder gets every single one of my guns put in the hands of this iconic artist and sculptor…Koons will decommission [and] render inactive all of my cowardly killing machines.”

Anderson Cooper won the auction for a cool $1.4 million, with all of the money raised going to Sean’s J/P HRO Haiti charity.
