Ryan Lochte Speaks on Blocking Out His Haters, Says They’re a “Given”
Have you ever found yourself pondering ‘What Would Ryan Lochte Do?’ because there is a reality show for that now. The swimmer is set to star in the somewhat random tv offering which premieres this Sunday on E! and to give us a sneak peek into his life, he has already opened up on his haters. Who could possibly hate Ryan? He’s like some sort of fish person – if you called him ‘Jaws’ it would have two perfectly applicable meanings (it’s almost as if Jay Leno’s chin got stretched on Photoshop in either direction, plus he swims, right?).
Speaking on haters, Ryan says all famous people have them and you just have to deal. It’s a part of the fame package:
“The more known you get in the public eye, the more haters you’re gonna have and that’s a given, but, you know what? All the haters, all the name calling goes through one ear (and) out the other and I don’t mind it. The way I look at it the more haters I have it means I’m doing something right.”
He admits that he often zones out from the world (and his aforementioned haters) by taking a dip and submerging himself quite literally in another place where he is only focused on swimming:
“With swimming I’ve been known to cut out everything. The crowd, everything. Just focus on me and my lane and what I need to accomplish so I can do that pretty much in life too.”
