Robert Pattinson Hates Being Called ‘R-Patz’

We make up nicknames when we like (or in some cases love) someone, and that’s why Robert Pattinson got lumbered with R-Patz pretty quickly after everyone saw him play the delicious Edward Cullen in ‘Twilight’ but, the heartthrob has admitted that he wants to “strangle” whoever made it up.

The British actor, who is currently starring in ‘Cosmopolis’, which received divisive reviews at the recent Cannes Film Festival, couldn’t help read the reviews of the movie and while talking about what he found, he became quickly annoyed by the use of ‘R-Patz’.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, he said: “When I got this part every single article that came out, was, ‘R-Patz’s struggle for credibility!’; I don’t understand who invented that thing, ‘R-Patz’, I want to strangle them.”

He continued: “But once you’ve made that step, everything afterwards is not like, ‘R-Patz’s continuing struggle for credibility!’ You’ve got to come up with something else, so it gets a little bit easier. I was always sh*t at auditions.”

The actor, who became an instant success and worldwide sex god has also starred in other movies including ‘Water For Elephants’ and ‘Bel Ami’ but because of his fame, he rarely needs to audition to get a part he wants.

“Since ‘Twilight’, I’ve done two,” he explained. “One of them was for a job I’m doing now and it was really hard. Two really, really long auditions that everybody was going up for. I was so happy afterwards when I got it. And it was purely because of ‘Cosmopolis’ that I was thinking, ‘You can go and do this as an actor, rather than just as the guy from ‘Twilight’, because you’ve got some foreign value now.'”
