Rihanna Beats Lady GaGa To 2 Billion YouTube Hits

Rihanna has overtaken Lady GaGa to become the first female artist to top 2 BILLION views on music video service VeVo.

The site, which is partnered with YouTube, awarded previous record holder GaGa the title for 1 billion hits back in October 2010, but the star’s latest efforts haven’t been enough to keep RiRi at bay.

The Bajan said on Twitter: “First chic to EVER reach 2 BILLION views on VEVO!!!! Congrats #RihannaNavy!!!! #QueenzOfVEVO. My fans run dis world!”

She achieved the landmark total thanks to singles including ‘We Found Love’ (115 million views), ‘What’s My Name‘ (230 million), ‘Rude Boy’ (185 million), ‘Man Down’ (133 million) and ‘California King Bed’ (102 million).

GaGa‘s hits ‘Marry The Night’ and ‘You and I’ meanwhile have only mustered 49 and 31 million views respectively.

Justin Bieber is still YouTube’s most popular act overall, with a giant total of over 2.2 billion views.

Rihanna will perform her duet with Coldplay at this year’s Grammy Awards.
