PHOTOS: Orlando Bloom Felt ‘Immediate Connection’ With Female Co-star Condola Rashad

Orlando Bloom has revealed he felt an “immediate connection” when he first met his Romeo & Juliet co-star Condola Rashad.

The Pirates of the Carribean actor is set to make his Broadway debut alongside the Tony Award nominated actress for a modern adaptation of the classic love story.

The production will feature Shakespeare’s original text, but will focus on an inter-racial relationship in a modern day setting.

Speaking to ABC’s Good Morning America, Orlando, casually dressed in a navy shirt and jeans, explained his excitement at taking on the role of Romeo.

The 36-year-old actor revealed: “Everyone knows – feels they know this story. But there’s so much more to it. And I’ve loved every moment of the rehearsal.”

Miranda Kerr’s husband had nothing but praise for his 26-year-old co-star during the interview.

“When I first met Condola, there was an immediate connection between us,” explained Orlando. “She delivered this one line and I remember just cracking up. It was such a unique — a comedic Juliet.”

Romeo and Juliet opens at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre on Thursday, September 19, 2013 following preview performances from Saturday, August 24, 2013.
