One Direction’s ‘Midnight Memories’ Is Already Top Of Album Charts Around The World On Pre-Orders Alone

One Direction’s third album ‘Midnight Memories’ was only made available for pre-order yesterday (September 9) but it has already made it to the top of the iTunes album chart in 10 countries.

‘Midnight Memories’ currently sits at number one in the US, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland. The pre-orders impressive success so far demonstrates just how well the band are doing globally.

The ‘Little Things’ singers have previously had number one albums in the UK and the US, their debut album ‘Up All Night’ was actually more successful in the US where it reached the top of the album chart whereas it only made it to the number two spot in the UK.

In a blog on the boys website they open up about the album:

“We’ve put a lot of love into this album and we’re really proud of our new music – we hope you’ll love the tracks as much as we do. We had amazing time writing and recording on the road!!”

Harry, Zayn, Liam, Louis and Niall are particularly keen to show their fans their appreciation: “Thanks so much to each and every one of you who has supported us over the past three years. We can’t believe everything we’ve achieved and we owe it all to you.”

Earlier today Miley Cyrus broke the boy bands record for most viewed video in under 24 hours. One Direction previously held the record with their video for ‘Best Song Ever’ which received 10.7 million views on its first day. Miley’s ‘Wrecking ball’ has now smashed the boys record by receiving more than 17 million views since its release.

‘Midnight Memories’ is set for release on November 25, the five piece will be touring the UK in May and June next year in support of the album.
