Nicki Minaj is Leaving American Idol: Will You Keep Watching?

It appears that Nicki Minaj may be leaving her spot as judge on ‘American Idol’. She will be following the show’s veteran judge Randy Jackson who is also set to depart after a long stint on the show. There are rumors that the producers want to bring the show back to its former glory, returning to just 3 judges for the new season. Mariah Carey and Keith Urban have yet to comment on their positions, so may possibly be hanging in there for another season. A source said about Nicki’s departure:

“It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to ‘Idol’. She’s okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.”

Although Mariah Carey was reportedly invited back for another season, she wants out because of the constant disrespect she gets from Nicki and she’s simply had enough. She is also under pressure from the producers from the show to be more critical, so even if Nicki leaves, Mariah may depart still too:

“Nicki is really disrespecting her, and she’s tired of trying to bite her tongue all the time. She’s done with it all. She doesn’t need the platform, and all the drama isn’t healthy for her. She’s also under fire with the producers for not being critical enough of the contestants.”

The real question is, will viewers return to the show? Rating keep dropping and although the contestants are as talented as ever – it seems too boring and too repetitive now. They need to shake things up or find something interesting to add to make it fresh and make us care again! Will you be tuning in to the new season?
