Musical festival cancelled in France over terror attack threat of ‘bloodbath’

A sad day for the world after a musical festival in France was cancelled this weekend at the last minute owing to a terrifying warning over a sick terrorist attack.

Organisers of The Lignerock festival received a chilling phone call threatening a “bloodbath” at the event.

It had been set to be held at the Vendée department of Pays-de-la-Loire region in west-central France on Saturday night, but organisers chose to pull the plug after the anonymous tip.

“There will be a bloodbath in Saint-Christophe-du-Ligneron tonight,” the caller reportedly told the local police on the call.

France Bleu radio station have claimed that the festival organisers received two other phone calls.

The doors for the festival had been due to open at 7.30pm on Saturday night but a message was posted on its Facebook page stating that the event was cancelled.

Just a few hours earlier Les Cameleons were pictured in rehearsals ahead of their set.

“After a terror threat we have had no choice but to cancel the concert tonight. We’re at a loss for words,” the festival organisers wrote. The venue where the event was due to be held was investigated by police and their bomb-sniffing dogs, but no explosives were found at the sports hall, according to BFM TV.

The chilling warning came after horrific attacks in November 2015, which saw 130 people die and hundreds more injured including at the iconic Bataclan theatre. Last year in July, crowds celebrating Bastille Day on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice were targeted by terrorists in a truck which killed 86 people and injured 434.
