MTV Movie Awards 2014: Hunger Games Big Winner As Jennifer Lawrence & Josh Hutcherson Triumph

The Hunger Games trumped its competition last night at the MTV Movie Awards 2014, with its leading stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson winning the big awards while Jonah Hill, Jared Leto and Mila Kunis also triumphed in the coveted categories.

Hosted by Conan O’Brien at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, the evening saw The Hunger Games: Catching Fire beating the likes of 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle to win the Movie of the Year award while Jennifer Lawrence trumped rivals such as Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong’o to walk away with the Best Female Performance for her role in the fantasy flick.

It was a hatrick for the blockbuster hit though as Josh Hutcherson was crowned the Best Male Performance for his role as Peeta Mellark in the film.

It was an emotional evening though for the cast as Hutcherson paid tribute to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman with a speech, saying to the audience: “It was so cool to have Philip in our movies. He’s one of the actors I’ve looked up to my entire life. I know if Philip were here he would think this was really cool.”

Channing Tatum won the Trailblazer award (FayesVision/WENN)

Other winners include Will Poulter who scoopted the Breakthrough Performance We’re The Millers while Jonah Hill won Best Comedic Performance for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street.
