Miley Cyrus Thinks She “Made History” With Her MTV VMAs Performance

Miley Cyrus made big headlines when she twerked her way in to the hate books of mothers everywhere during her racy (and very  un-family friendly) dance on stage at the MTV VMAs recently. Now, she’s sort of bragging about the whole thing and is seemingly loving the attention. She said that at the time, she told Robin Thicke who she was performing with, that they were making history together:

“Me and Robin [Thicke,] the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now.’”

Miley says she is utterly amazed that people are still talking about it and she even believes they’re “over thinking it” at this point because it’s gotten out of hand:

“What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later and people are still talking about it. They’re over thinking it. You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me.”

The singer says she is just ignoring any negative comments that come her way following the performance and she believes she’s following in the footsteps of the greats:

“I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history.”
