Met Gala Ball 2013 Best Dressed: Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively, Cara Delevingne & More!
The 2013 Met Gala Ball’s punk theme threw up a long line of fashion disasters in New York last night with the likes of Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart walking head first into fancy dress shop horror. In amongst the 80’s flashbacks though were some couture gems, here’s our favourites of the night.
Burberry was the star of the show with the Brit designer dressing our very own Cara and new signing Sienna Miller. Both ladies looked fab but we loved Cara’s stunning take on the punk trend in her studded column gown. Take note Miley and co, this is how you do punk meets couture.
A controversial choice for our Best Dressed list perhaps but we loved Katy’s out there Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. From her crown down to her shoes, Katy donned an entire look from Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection. Her intricate dress featured thousands of tiny beads, making up a religious design, inspired by the golden mosaics of Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale. If you can’t go all out at the Met Ball when can you?
Miranda showed Victorias Secret what they’re missing, displaying her super toned abs in this simple Micahel Kors number. The cut out dress may not have been particularly punk but teamed with a splash of diamonds and a crimson pout, it was the epitome of less is more.
Blake Lively stunned in her dramatic gown (WENN)
Blake has been lying low with new hubby Ryan Reynolds for awhile but she made her red carpet return in style with her elaborate gown. The 25-year-old is the face of the Gucci Première women’s fragrance so naturally she wore wore a Gucci Première pale green silk dress. The dramatic train gave a nod to the theme of the night with the overall look a perfect blend of elegance and attitude.
Flying the flag for Britain Rita looked gorgeous in her custom Thakoon dress with a necklace from the designer, Cartier jewelry, and Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. We loved the slash detail and Rita’s natural curls.
Just like Katy, Anne is another controversal choice but we have to commend the actress for going all out for fashion’s big night out. The Les Miserable star’s vintage Valentino dress was overshadowed by her newly dyed peroxide blonde crop, which Anne revealed was inspired by Debbie Harry. Full marks for effort!
