Lorde and Iggy Azalea Launch Explosive Rant Against ‘Spineless’ Journalists For Bad Reviews

Lorde isn’t one to hold her tongue and it looks as though she has met her match in the shape of Iggy Azalea with the pair blasting a number of music journalists as “two-faced” and “spineless” for giving their music bad reviews.

‘Royals’ singer Lorde clearly had a few things to get off her chest as she unleashed a lengthy rant on her Tumblr page over the weekend, taking aim at music journalists for rating her music poorly but then asking them for interviews.

In the Tumblr post, Lorde wrote: “Bugs me how publications like complex will profile interesting artists in order to sell copies/get clicks and then shit on their records?

“It happens to me all the time- pitchfork and that ilk being like “can we interview you?” after totally taking the piss out of me in a review. have a stance on an artist and stick to it. don’t act like you respect them then throw them under the bus.”

‘Fancy’ rapper Iggy, who is gearing up for the release of her debut album ‘The New Classic’ next month, supported her comments, tweeting yesterday: “I agree @lordemusic media LOVE to flop about, But when you’re completely spineless Im sure its hard to stick to even ur own opinion #GoGirl.”

“The media will beg for free tickets to your show just so they can write about how much they hate it etc etc, I wish you could all see it. The whole things actually pretty funny.

“They also love to have upbeat bubbly mid 20s women do the daily blog posts about you… But keep a stash of pseudo intellectual middle aged men in sandals at hand ready to review everyone’s albums.”

Iggy Azalea has chimed into the argument, agreeing with Lorde about the spineless journos (DC5/WENN)

She added: “Anyhow those guys don’t shape culture, you guys do. People do. kids do! Remember that and I promise I will too. Love ya. Xo.”

Complex have since released a lengthy report addressing their comments, part of which reads: “Lorde, Iggy Azalea, and Grimes are all talented young artists who we hope will have long careers. We have covered them in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

“And we hope they’d be down to do more interviews with us because we like hearing their stories. But we’re not going to treat artists like they’re above reproach just because we profiled them. Why? Well, because that would just be plain spineless.”
