Latitude Festival reveals headliners for 2017 It’s that time of year again – the time when all the UK’s biggest festivals start to unveil their acts and, perhaps most importantly, their headliners.Latitude Festival, which takes place this July between Thursday 13th and Sunday 16th at Henham Park in Suffolk, has just announced its three headliners along with a slew of established and upcoming bands sure to get music fans everywhere excited and yearning for the summer to arrive.Firstly, BRIT Award winners The 1975 who hail from Manchester, will headline on Friday night. Still riding high on the success of their latest album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, the band are sure to deliver yet another spellbinding performance for their growing army of dedicated fans. Also, in a UK festival EXCLUSIVE, Grammy Award winners Mumford & Sons will headline the Obelisk Arena on Saturday, starting with their Gentlemen of the Road Stopover, which will see them present a hand-picked selection of the hottest new bands around to the masses, before delighting them with an electrifying show of their own.In a statement, the band said:“This collaboration with Latitude is one of the most exciting things we’re doing this year. Ever since we started working on Gentlemen Of The Road Stopovers we’ve really enjoyed curating line ups and sharing not only our own music but also sharing music of artists who we love and are listening to regularly. It’s almost like creating a mix tape with a best friend, but instead it’s a whole day of music, across multiple stages, with 40,000 people!”The final headliners, making their hotly anticipated Latitude debut, are Fleet Foxes, who with a platinum debut album behind them and fresh and raring to go after taking a break, will headline on Sunday, delivering their first UK performance in 5 years.Following the headline announcement being made, the band said:“After being holed up in the studio for a year, there’s nothing we’re more excited about than performing new songs and revisiting our catalog at Latitude!” Speaking about the headliners playing this year’s Latitude, founder and creator Melvin Benn said:“Following the incredible success of our eleventh edition last year, we had set the bar high for this year’s festival. The 1975 have more than proven themselves over the past year and I’m thrilled to give them a well-deserved headline slot. Mumford & Sons have chosen Latitude as the only stop in the UK for their Gentlemen of the Road Takeover, and Fleet Foxes’ will headline their only UK appearance at a festival this year. Latitude 2017 is already simply unmissable.”Other acts announced today who will play the Obelisk Arena include Goldfrapp, The Horrors, British singer-songwriter Lucy Rose and country duo Ward Thomas. The BBC Music Stage will play host to not one but two UK Festival exclusives from Placebo and The Radio Dept, as well as performances from Fatboy Slim, Jack Garratt, Lisa Hannigan, Declan McKenna and many more.Over at the Music & Film Arena, fans can lose themselves in the sounds of Will Young’s Summer Jazz Sessions and Imelda May while Kevin Morby, Palace, Goat Girl, Honeyblood, Twin Peaks and more will thrill audiences at the Sunrise Arena.Pixx, Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Joe Fox will perform on the DIY Presents The Alcove Stage, Jorja Smith will wow fans with her performance on the Lake Stage and Balletboyz, the BBC Young Dancer 2017 Finalists and Sisters Grimm: Voices Of The Amazon are among the acts scheduled to perform on the Waterfront Stage. Finally, on other stages, fans can check out Disco Yoga, Hot Dub Time Machine, Guilty Pleasures and Opera North Projects Present Underworld. With a band or artist to suit all tastes, styles and genres, this year’s Latitude Festival looks set to be the best one yet, and despite some criticism at the line-up, the majority of music fans are, unsurprisingly, excited as shown via the tweets below.OMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGG THE LINEUP IS SO GOOD #LatitudeFestival— Fergs (@FergieFerguson) March 1, 2017https://t.co/YLShlMIFV5@LatitudeFest so I made a playlist featuring #LatitudeFestival artists becauseit is not too early to get #excited pic.twitter.com/ZaNkD2TJDr— K3R3N5A (@K3R3N5A) March 1, 2017What is this magical line up?! ? #festivalfever #LatitudeFestival @JackGarratt @MumfordAndSons @gotrofficial https://t.co/RyW7eznfGE— Brittany Reid (@britsticker) March 1, 2017Pretty wonderful line up at this year’s #LatitudeFestival I’ve never been &never seen Fleet Foxes before soooooooooo might just have to go! pic.twitter.com/8pBPOnQhrS— Arielle Free (@ariellefree) March 1, 2017Tickets for Latitude Festival can be purchased here.
