Lana Del Rey: “The Issue of Feminism is Just Not an Interesting Concept”
Feminism keeps coming up in various celebrity interviews – mostly because it seems to be hilarious to gather people’s thoughts on a subject that the majority don’t seem to understand fully – just check out Shailene Woodley’s take on the subject for a perfect example. We like to watch them squirm through the awkward questions. Lana says she is simply just not interested in discussing it, because her brain cares more about intergalactic possibilities:
“For me, the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept. I’m more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what’s going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities. Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested.”
When asked if she knows and understands what feminism means, she responds:
“My idea of a true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants.”
The singer also opened up on her critics and those who attack her for her work. She says that she doesn’t see it as something that is personal:
“My career isn’t about me. My career is a reflection of journalism, current-day journalism. My public persona and career has nothing to do with my internal process or my personal life. It is actually just a reflection on writers’ creative processes and where they’re at in 2014. Literally has nothing to do with me. Most of anything you’ve ever read is not true.”
