Kendall Jenner Discusses Ignoring Social Media Negativity

The top model says she does everything she can to avoid negative comments because she knows it will never make her happy. She adds that it has helped to grow up in the spotlight because she has become better at dealing with online trolls and bullies:

”I don’t read anything of that nature. If you put yourself in that position, you’re not going to be happy. I think that for us, we kind of grew up with fame. We’ve grown up around it our entire lives, so we kind of understood what it was a bit. So I think that that helped a lot, for the point we’re at now. I think that helped a tonne.”

Kendall says she recently decided to take a social media break by deleting her accounts and was amazed at how much she realised she was missing by being glued to her phone all of the time:

”It was the first time we had ever been to this beautiful place, and we were sitting in a car. I was just zoning out, taking it all in. And Kylie wouldn’t put her phone down. I’m like, ‘That’s so crazy to me that you’re not experiencing this.’ That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn’t like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.”

She also says she is not even close to finished establishing her career and never wants to stop working hard, while also remaining true to who she is in the process:

”I’m definitely still on my path, but I’m proud of everything that my hard work has gotten me! It’s not just about being a workaholic (which I am!), though … I’ve always been my authentic self. When people force things, their real self has to eventually come out, so why not just start there? … I’ve never let go of my self-discipline. Being a professional model means early call times and long hours on set, which means there’s not always room for play.”
