Kelly Clarkson Supports Kesha, Says She Was Blackmailed Into Working With Dr. Luke

Kesha is wrapped up in a bitter battle to get away from music producer Dr. Luke. The singer claims she was sexually abused and wants their contract binding her to work with him to end. Now, Kelly Clarkson is trying to help out. Following the court ruling that Kesha wouldn’t be allowed to escape her contract, Kelly tweeted in support:

“trying 2 not say anything since I can’t say anything nice about a person… so this is me not talking about Dr. Luke (sic).”

Kelly has now stated that her record label forced her to work with Dr. Luke and she felt blackmailed. She claims they wouldn’t allow her to release her album unless she worked with him:

“People are like, ‘Oh you’ve worked with Max and Luke ‘ but Max and Luke are very different. I only worked with him because literally, I got blackmailed by my label. They were like, ‘We will not put your album out if you don’t do this.’ It was a really hard time for me. And I tried to make the best of the situation.”

She goes on to explain that her experience working with Luke was difficult and although she didn’t witness anything Kesha has accused the producer of, she felt he had a poor character and says they ran into difficulties while working together:

“He’s not a good person to me. We’ve clashed. But I can’t really say anything other than that. I wasn’t there (with Kesha). I don’t know what happened specifically in their situation. Obviously I wasn’t in the room. But I can remark on his character.¬†Unfortunately when you have that poor of character, like so many artists don’t like you and don’t like working with you, that’s not normal. I get along with everybody I work with. Obviously, he’s a talented dude… He’s just not a good guy.¬†I’ve run into a couple of really bad situations, musically. It’s really hard for me because he’ll just lie to people, and it makes the artist look bad. He’s kind of difficult to work with and kind of demeaning. It’s kind of unfortunate.”
