Katie Holmes Says New York Has Been Good to Her & Daughter Suri

Katie Holmes loves New York City. Appearing at a charity event, Katie gushed about living in Manhattan with her 7-year-old daughter Suri. Her marriage to actor Tom Cruise may not have stood the test of time, but Katie says the city has been very good to her and she loves the overall atmosphere:

“New York has been very good to both of us. I love the theater, the galleries in my neighborhood. Stuff [like] that is so much of what makes me love this city. I love the Knicks. I love talking to my neighbors in the elevator. I like feeling a part of something big.”

She also loves feeling like she is part of a bigger community and says the city always has a surprise up its sleeve even for people who’ve lived there for a long time:

“I love the community in New York. I love New Yorkers. I ran into someone on the street the other day that I went to high school with. I love the moments of spontaneity every day.”

Katie also did her best to promote breast health checks and says women need to take better care of themselves:

“I’ve known a lot of people who have been diagnosed and women tend to take care of everyone else before our own needs. Becoming a parent made me much more aware of my own health. I want to be there for my child for a long time.”
