Kate Winslet Named Baby ‘Blaze’ to Remember Scary House Fire

Kate Winslet recently gave birth to a baby boy which she decided to name Bear – but she has now revealed that his middle name is just as quirky – it’s ‘Blaze’. Kate was once in a terrifying house fire where she met Bear’s father Ned Rocknroll and she says they wanted to give their baby a name to commemorate the moment.  She explained:

 “Bear’s second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically. Well will did. The house burned down and we survived. So we wanted something of the fire and so Blaze was the name that we came up with.”

She further explained her son’s first name by revealing that she used to have a friend whose nickname was Bear and she always like it. The person in question was a warm guy who was affectionate and kind so she thought it made a great name to pass on to her son:

 “A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear. And I just sort of always really loved it. He was very much a bear. He was everyone’s shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug and he was just this great figure in my life… I just always remembered him so that’s where that came from.”
