Kate Upton Paid Up $25,000 To Anna Wintour For Met Gala Ticket
Sports Illustrated favourite Kate Upton had to personally dish out $25,000 to Anna Wintour before she was given a ticket to the Met gala earlier this week.
The model is one of the world’s most famous models, but apparently she wasn’t good enough to be on the invite list, so resorted to a begging tactic to be allowed to rub shoulders with Hollywood’s elite.
The annual Costume Institute Gala, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday (May 5), saw the likes of Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson and Justin Timberlake walk the red carpet but Kate had to personally ask for a ticket.
A source told the New York Post that Kate headed down to Vogue’s Times Square office to get her approval.
“She told Anna she would really like to attend,” the insider said. “Then she offered to pay for her own ticket. Kate then whipped out her check-book and paid the $25,000 for her seat. Anna took the check on the spot”.
Despite not being included on the original list, Kate was allowed to the ball and chose to wear a sparkly Michael Kors gown for the evening – which wasn’t well received by critics.
It’s now been reported that Kate is set to feature heavily in an upcoming issue of the fashion tome in a “makeover”-themed article.
