Kate Middleton & Prince William’s Wedding Cake Sells For $1,375 Per Slice
Punters at a Hollywood auction have paid $1,375 for slices of wedding cake from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.
Slices from Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s big day in 1981 have also been the same amount – which converts to around £865.
An iconic dress worn by Judy Garland in ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ was also sold for just under half a million dollars at the Julien’s Auctions event in Beverley Hills.
The blue and white ginham pinafore fetched $480,000 (£302,000). A similar, rarer dress worn during tests for the 1939 movie earned a superior $910,000 in 2011.
The dress was made by MGM costume designer Adrien Greenberg, and the buyer has not been named.
Other sales at the Hollywood Icons event included a dress worn by Julie Andrews in ‘The Sound Of Music’ ($38,400), Steve McQueen’s old racing jacket ($50,000) and a purple wool skirt worn by Marilyn Monroe during the making of ‘River of No Return’ ($50,000).
