Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge To Miss Wedding Of ‘Old Drinking Buddy’ Amid Fears Of ‘Overshadowing’ His Big Day
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, will reportedly not join husband Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry when they celebrate the wedding of Guy Pelly.
She is said to be planning on spending some time with son Prince George back home while the Princes jet off to the USA to celebrate their friend’s big day.
Kate and Guy go way back, and were apparently “drinking buddies” when she briefly split from William a few years ago; but an awareness of the commotion her attendance would cause is thought to be stopping her going.

A source close to the wedding party told The Mirror: “Guy is one of the princes’ oldest and closest friends so understandably William and Harry wanted to be there to support him on one of the most important days of his life. But Harry’s promised to behave, William will fly in for two days then go straight home and Kate won’t be there.
“If all three senior royals had gone it would have required a huge security detail flying to Memphis with them. After Australia, Kate’s happy to leave William and Harry to it and spend some time at home with George.”
They added: “It was a difficult decision, though, because Guy is incredibly close to Kate – they were drinking buddies when Kate and William split briefly in 2007 but she appreciates the media storm her attendance would cause.
“She’s also keen to avoid over-shadowing Guy and [wife-to-be] Lizzy’s big day. Wills and Harry also don’t want the thing to turn into a circus.
“The Palace have warned them in no uncertain terms they need to ‘slip in and out without embarrassment’.”
You’ve been warned, lads!
