Julianne Hough teamed up with MPG Sport because it’s the only brand that “represents” the way she lives her life.
WWD has announced the dancer-and-actress will choose 12 of her favourite items from the activewear company, launching them at Lord & Taylor and the Hudson’s Bay Co. in March (16). In autumn 2016 she’ll also design a capsule collection for MPG Sport.
Now Julianne has explained why she jumped at the chance to become brand ambassador.
“I’ve been trying to find a company that I feel really represents who I am as an athlete and dancer and how I like to live my life,” she told the outlet. “For the last few years I’ve met with a lot of different companies and I felt like MPG was a great fit.”
What sets MPG apart from other activewear lines is its close partnerships with professional dancers. Julianne, who trained at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts as a child, was therefore a perfect match. Together, she hopes they can introduce a new type of practical clothing to the fashion industry.
“I think there is definitely a lot of purely performance gear out there for going on a run and doing yoga,” she explained. “But it’s rare to find pieces that are appropriate for working out, running errands and going to lunch. There are a few pieces that are very fashion worthy that you wouldn’t necessarily see in a workout line, but the fabric is extremely durable.”
Julianne has always been passionate about dance and currently sits on the judging panel of US show Dancing with the Stars. For her, it’s the best way of keeping fit.
“I feel like dancing is the best workout you can get because you’re working out muscles that you can’t necessarily get just lifting weights,” she previously told Women’s Health. “To get my cardio in I’ll do a lot of twists to get my obliques going and my heart rate up and then a lot of cha-cha moves because that’s all about your core.”
