Jon Hamm Admits Mad Men Finale Is ‘Going To Be Tricky’
Mad Men star Jon Hamm has confessed that seeing the hit drama come to an end will be “tricky”.
With the first half of the current season currently playing out on our screens, Hamm can be seen playing Don Draper, a role that has been a “big, big” part of his life.
Speaking to HuffPost Entertainment about the upcoming finale of the hit AMC show, the actor said:
“It’s been a big, big, big part of my life. I’ve got a lot of really good friends in the cast and crew. It’s going to be tricky [to see it end].
“I’m not going to say I wish it wouldn’t end, because everything has to end, but it is what it is. We’re going to have an emotional journey once we wrap it up. We’ll walk away and lock the door.”
Whilst the actor might be sad to see Mad Men come to an end, he recently admitted that he didn’t think much of the show when he got the script for it.
Remembering what he thought when he was first introduced to Mad Men, the actor told Esquire: “I remember picking it up,” he says. “Mad Men: s****y title. AMC: network no-one’s ever heard of. Two strikes. Then I read it.”
Going on to recall the conversation he had with his girlfriend when he finished reading the script for the drama situated in the 1960s, Jon continued:
“I said to her, ‘This is the best pilot I’ve ever read in my life.’ She’s going, ‘What?’ That’s never the response to a pilot. Sometimes, at best, you’re like, ‘Hey! It’s not terrible!’ And I just thought, ‘I have to be in this show.’ And thus began the long, winding road to getting cast.”
