Jimmy Buffett Free Gulf Coast Concert

Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett, who always knows how to put on a great party, is going to lighten things up a bit around the Gulf Coast.  Buffett recently announced he’s putting on a free concert on July 1, 2010 in Gulf Shores, AL to promote awareness and tourism in the Gulf area.  He will have special guests such as Sonny Landreth, Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, Jesse Winchester and Allen Toussaint.

Tickets became available this morning, June 23, on Ticketmaster, but sold out just 10 minutes after they went live.  Thankfully for us, CMT will be broadcasting the show Live:

“CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends: Live From the Gulf Coast” is scheduled to broadcast live nationwide on CMT from 7 to 8:30 p.m. July 1 on the public beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Encore rebroadcast on July 2 at 6 p.m., July 3 at 8:30 a.m., July 4 at 1 p.m. and July 5 at 10:30 a.m. Excerpts and artist interviews will be available at CMT.com.”

Buffett is such an amazing man and has long been a supporter of environmental causes, mainly as the founder of the Save the Manatee Club.

I just love the guy!  We went and saw him last night (and last year for his Summerzcool tour) here in Michigan at the DTE Music Theater for his ‘Under the Big Top 2010 Tour’ and it was, of course, a fabulous time! At the end of the show Bret Michaels came out and sang Margaritaville with him.  Too cool!

Love the guy!

Due to concerns about surf conditions on the Alabama beach where the concert was scheduled to take place, the Jimmy Buffett and Friends benefit concert scheduled for this Thursday has been postponed until Sunday, July 11th.

“Nobody hates this more than I do but I guess, as the song says, it’s hard to reason with hurricane season,” Jimmy said. “For those going anyway, thank you. My sister Lulu will take good care of you. For the rest of you, we will see you July 11th!”
