Jessica Simpson Changes Her Name To Johnson After Wedding: What’s In A Celeb Name?

Looks like newlywed Jessica Simpson is ditching her last name, to become Jessica Johnson, following her recent marriage to long-term boyfriend Eric Johnson. After a few years of engagement, and two children, the couple finally tied the knot on July 5th in Los Angeles.

Posting pictures on her Instagram from her honeymoon in Mexico, Jes signed off a bikini photo “Jessica Johnson”.

Jess, who has two children with Eric, Maxwell, 2 and Ace, 12 months, kept her name when she married first husband Nick Lachey. That union ended after just a few years though, so maybe Jess is hoping the change of name will keep them together?

Looks like changing your name is the in-thing for newlyweds. Kim Kardashian, after refusing to change her last name for ex-husband Kris Humphries, added West to her monkier when she tied the knot with rapper Kanye. When asked ahead of her wedding in October 2013, she told E!Online: “Yes, I will take his name.”

And the freshest newlywed on the block, Cheryl Cole is also apparently changing her last name following her whirlwind marriage to French businessman, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini. She’s already removed the Cole, her married name from first husband Ashley, from her social media sites.

The couple, who apparently only got together three months ago while Chezza was at the Cannes Film Festival, tied the knot in Mustique last weekend. And when the Geordie beauty returns to the X Factor UK, it’s apparently going to be as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

Some stars have legally changed, but you wouldn’t know it. Technically Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel are Mrs Affleck and Mrs Timberlake, but prefer to be known as their maiden name professionally.

Others have actually found more success after adopting their hubbie’s last name. Remember when Victoria Beckham, was Adams? No we don’t either. And Demi Moore.

She might not have changed her name during marriages to Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher, but Moore isn’t actually her maiden name. She is legally Demi Guynes, but changed it professionally when she married musician Freddy Moore in 1980. The marriage was over by 1985, but she kept the name and it still known by it today.

Jessica and Eric tied the knot in Montecito, California in an intimate ceremony witnessed by only a handful of guests, according to Us Weekly. Her sister Ashlee and bestfriend CaCee Cobb reportedly acted as bridesmaids. Sweet.
