Jennifer Hudson Teases Upcoming Tour Ahead Of ‘JHUD’ Album Release
Jennifer Hudson is set to release her brand new album JHUD tomorrow (September 23) and as she continues to countdown until the LP on Twitter, she has now spoken out about her efforts and the inspirations behind her new material, also hinting that she may be hitting the road on tour very soon.
Jen collaborated with Pharrell Williams, R Kelly and Timbaland on the brand new album and when speaking to USA Today, she has shared her excitement about the release.
Speaking of how the name JHUD came about, Hudson said: “I noticed that’s what everyone’s been calling me. And I want people to get to know me personally as that, as this real girl.”
The 33-year-old may have come seventh in season three of American Idol, but she’s managed to still make a huge name for herself and she added that this new LP enables her to show her fans a different side to her. She said that there is “the Jennifer Hudson persona, where everything can seem so heavy or emotional or strong. That’s part of me.”
The singer’s last album, 2011’s I Remember Me, sold an impressive 459,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. But, despite her not managing to bag a top 40 single since her self-titled first LP, the American Idol star’s producer, Clive Davis, very much believes in her, saying: “Jennifer is her own best ambassador. You just have to get people to hear her sing — she’ll do the rest.”
And fans won’t have to wait too long before hearing the material live, it seems, because Hudson also said that a tour “is in the works.”
How exciting!
