Is EL James Writing Another Fifty Shades Of Grey Book? Author Teases Fans With Twitter Pic

EL James my have concluded Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele’s saucy adventures with Fifty Shades Freed back in 2012, but the hugely successful author has teased fans with a cryptic Instagram snap which shows her back in the writers seat.

The Brit author has achieved worldwide success with her trio of ‘mummy porn’ novels but since publishing the final installment she’s taken a back seat from writing. Instead the mother of two has been living the jet set life, flying back and forth between the Vancouver set of the movie based on her first book.

James has been heavily involved in bringing Fifty Shades of Grey to the big screen, spending weeks on set with director Sam Taylor Johnson and stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. But with the film wrapping last month, the author seems to have more time on her hands.

Perhaps that’s why she’s gone back to writing, sharing a photo of her computer on Saturday with the teasing message “It’s been a while…”

While some fans have been speculating that the writer could be working on a spin off version, based on Christian’s Fifty Shades story, others have pointed out that James could be working on the final draft of her new book, which she teased in a recent interview.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly at the end of last year, James revealed she’s written another book but isn’t sure when it will be published. “What I’d really like to be doing is sitting down in a little room writing my next book,” she said, amid the huge hype surrounding the Fifty Shades movie. “I miss it so much.”

James then clarified that, in fact, she’s already finished her new project. “I’ve written another book,” she said adding that she doesn’t have a publishing date and “it’s very different than Fifty”.

James is certainly an expert when it comes to penning a bestseller with the Fifty Shades trilogy reaching 100 million copies in sales at the end of February.

The impressive feat took less than three years since the author self-published the Fifty Shades of Grey novel in 2011. The book received a greater boost in 2012 when Vintage, a Random House publishing house, published Fifty Shades.

Two copies of the trilogy sold every second during its peak sales period, according to Vintage press release. The Fifty Shades trilogy stands as the fastest selling book series in Random House history, the world’s largest publisher.

The trilogy that includes Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, has been published in 51 languages including Hebrew, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak and Thai, according to the Los Angeles Times.

But it was American readers that devoured the series, purchasing more than 45 million copies.
