Heidi Montag’s father arrested on suspicion of child sex abuse and incest

The father of reality star Heidi Montag has been arrested on suspicion of child sex abuse and incest, it’s been revealed.

Bill Montag, who appeared in Heidi’s wedding episode on The Hills, was arrested in Aspen, Colorado, on Thursday evening (Jan. 29) and faced with charges of child sex abuse and incest after the alleged victim decided to come forward, according to Denver’s Channel 9 News.

According to the station, a 29-page affidavit (a written statement sworn under oath) alleges that Montag inflicted years of abuse on a girl starting when she was 13 and continuing until she was 17. Due to a statute of limitations in the U.S., he can only be charged for crimes committed since July 1, 1996, when the girl in question would have been 16.

Montag, 67, was picked up on a failure to appear charge, those charges being three counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, and one charge of aggravated incest, with records claiming the abuse lasted four years. The victim claims that the abuse started in 1993 and lasted until 1998. Montag has “denied it all,” athough authorities say they have been investigating the case since June. The time frame also means that the undisclosed victim is neither Heidi or her sister Holly.

The victim reportedly said she is coming forward after all these years to protect other possible victims. Sources close to Heidi, 28, however have stated that the woman “is determined to destroy the family,” and had previously stalked her and husband Spencer Pratt.

According to the victim’s statement, the abuse ended when she rejected Montag one night after he crawled into bed with her and pulled down her underwear in an attempt to have sexual intercourse with her. “Get the hell out of my room,” she claimed to have said, to which Montag replied, “I thought that’s what you wanted. I thought you loved me the way I love.” She claimed the abuse happened around 50 times.

TMZ has reported that Heidi is also certain that her father will be exonerated. If the father-of-two is convicted, he could face four to 12 years in jail and a fine of up to $750,000.

Montag — who currently works as a ski instructor — divorced Heidi’s mother, Darlene Egelhoff, in 1990, and both went on to remarry, Bill to a lady named Terri O’Hara. He appeared on The Hills when Heidi married Spencer Pratt, and walked his daughter down the aisle. Montag was also at the wedding of Heidi’s sister, Holly, this past September in Colorado, sharing the first dance with his daughter as she wed partner Richie Wilson. Holly recently announced that she is currently expecting her first child.
