Heartwarming photo of rescued dog two weeks after adoption is beyond cute

A ‘grateful’ dog has been pictured having a cuddle with his new owner.

The sweet snap was shared on social media, showing the former shelter dog, sharing all the love he’s got in a picture that has now gone viral.

In the snap pitbull Russ wraps his arms around his ‘new mum’ Kayla Filoon, like he’s hugging her, after forming a close bond in just a couple of weeks after he was adopted from Philadelphia’s municipal animal shelter.

The heartwarming photo was shared by Kayla’s aunt Jamie Holt, who posted it to her Facebook page on February 6th. After being picked up by dog and animal lovers, it quickly spread.

“And THIS right here people is why you should adopt!!!” wrote Holt.

“My niece and her newly adopted ACCT [Animal Care and Control Team] Philly dog of less than 2 weeks. Talk about being grateful. There are just no words to truly describe the sweetness in this photo.”

After coming to the attention of the shelter itself, they also shared the cute picture, where Russ had his front paws wrapped around Kayla and his head resting on her shoulder with his eyes closed.

“This is why we do what we do,” the post read. “This is Acct Alum Russ and his new mom, he was adopted 2 weeks ago from here. Do you think he’s happy?”

The university student fell in love with Russ while she was volunteering at the shelter after he the stray was admitted with a skin and eye infection as well as kennel cough.

“He would not stop cuddling with me,” she said. “I fell in love.”
