Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Chris Pratt Insists He’ll Be Piling On The Pounds Again For Parks & Recreation
Chris Pratt may be in the best shape of his life, thanks to his lead role in Marvel’s new movie Guardians of the Galaxy, but don’t expect him to be buff for too much longer!
The actor has landed his first big screen lead role in the new space adventure from James Gunn, but the role has required a lot of hard work with the star working with a nutritionist and two personal trainers in the lead up the movie’s shoot schedule in London.
The 35-year-old proved just how buff he got for the role by posting an Instagram snap of his lean and mean body last year, after shedding 35kg for the role of Peter Quill/ Star Lord, but now the movie is in the can Chris is looking forward to relaxing his strict regime.
With the seventh and final season of his hit show Parks & Recreation due to start production soon, Chris told us that he’s already in prep mode for Andy: “I’m definitely going to put on some of the weight again because no one can live beer free forever! If I get fat you can blame my wife,” he joked to EntWise at the GOTG London premiere tonight.
The actor also opened up about his inspiration for the role of Quill, who director James Gunn has previously described as a mix of Han Solo and Marty McFly:
“When I thought of Quill and what I wanted to bring to the character it was just like the feeling of what it was like to be a nine-year-old in the 80’s and like what were my pop icons,” he explained.
“You know we’re the same exact age, both born in ’79, I was nine in 1988 just like him and I know what those things meant to me, everything from Star Wars to Back to the Future, you know.”
“Footloose was like the soundtrack to the days of our lives so I was able to understand what it’s like to be a child in the 80s and imagine what I would do if I were thrust away into space.”
Guardians of the Galaxy opens in cinemas on August 1.
