GLAAD Media Awards: Kylie Minogue & Orange Is The New Black Steal The Show

Orange Is The New Black was among the winners at last night’s GLAAD Media Awards in New York.

The show was honoured at the ceremony in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, while cast member Laverne Cox was also awarded an individual honour.

Also at the ceremony, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, George Takei received the Vito Russo award – which is traditionally handed to a public figure who actively promotes LGBT equality.

The films Concussion and Philomena were also handed prizes, as was Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Jason Collins, the openly gay professional basketball player. Kylie Minogue dazzled the crowds, too, with a performance that saw her up on a table.

Cox posted a photo of herself at the bash on Instagram, along with the caption: “At the #glaadawards earlier tonight before joining my castmates onstage to accept the glaad media award for outstanding tv conedy.

“Thanks so much glaad and thanks to @theladydeja and M. Shane for the gorgeous makeup and hair respectively. I feel so blessed to be able to be a part of such a groundbreaking show that’s touched so many people.”

Orange Is The New Black returns for season two on June 6.
