Mr Grey will see you in 2017: Check out the first photos from Fifty Shades Darker

Get ready for more Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson because Universal have just confirmed the release dates for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequels. After taking £378 million at the worldwide Box Office it was pretty much a given that the remained of EL James’ trilogy would get picked up and now the studio has confirmed when.

At ComicCon on Thursday it was confirmed by the studio that it will be a two year wait for Fifty Shades Darker which will hit screen on February 10 2017, while the final movie, Fifty Shades Freed will drop on February 9 a year later. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will most likely be back in the lead roles, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed by the studio, probably because they’re still negotiating their paychecks following the success of the first movie.

Someone we already know won’t be back is director Sam Taylor-Johnson. She reportedly clashed with EL James on set and confirmed earlier this year she wouldn’t be behind the camera for anymore Fifty Shades, which will no doubt disappoint fans. Ahead of the release critics were ready to savage the adaption of the “mummy porn,” but Taylor-Johnson managed to create a tense and dark drama on screen that was pretty well received. Whoever takes up the mantle will have to walk that fine line again and handle James, who clashed several times with the director during production.

One new face will be EL James’ husband, who will be penning the screenplay for the sequel it was confirmed this week. We can’t wait to see Dakota and Jamie back on set as Ana and Christian. Until then Access Hollywood have claimed they have the first image from the sequel, showing Christian tying on a mask.
