Elton John Once Had Sex With a KGB Agent on a Rooftop

Here’s a mental visual you probably didn’t need: Elton John has given out a little too much information about a time he once hooked up with KGB agent during a trip to Russia. The singer was visiting the country during the 70s and was given a Russian interpreter who he felt was there to keep a watchful eye on him. He admits that they ended up hooking up on the hotel’s roof:

“I went to Russia in 1979 and I knew we were being watched all the time. I had an interpreter that they’d clearly set up. I ended up having sex with him on the hotel roof.”

Elton has also spoken on the country’s anti-gay laws, revealing that he needs to go to Russia in December but knows he’ll have to be very careful. He believes that by making the trip, he’ll be supporting gay people within the country instead of avoiding the country as others have done in protest:

”I’m supposed to be going to Moscow in December. I’ve got to go. And I’ve got to think about what I’m going to say very carefully. There’s two avenues of thought: do you stop everyone going, ban all the artists coming in from Russia? But then you’re really leaving the men and women who are gay and suffering under the anti-gay laws in an isolated situation.  As a gay man, I can’t leave those people on their own without going over there and supporting them. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’ve got to go.”
