Divergent: Theo James just loves kissing Shailene Woodley
Hands up who watched Divergent on DVD over the weekend? Isn’t it a thing of wonder having Theo James available any time of day or night? Whilst reliving Four and Tris’ story, we started to reminisce about those epic few weeks when the stars were promoting the movie, and all Theo could talk about was kissing Shai…
During the promo run for the box office hit earlier this year, pretty much every question aimed at Theo and Shai focused on that super hot kissing scene. And while most stars would get fed up with the repetitive questions, Theo was only too happy to talk about that first kiss with Shailene, which of course sent those real life romance rumours into overdrive.
Here’s our favourite Theo kissing quotes:
He likes it hard and fast
“I just went at it hard, to be honest, because I thought that’s how she wanted it. I thought to assuage any awkwardness I would just go for it. She was kind of batting away my hands.”
Miles Teller was a bit of a third wheel
“It was kind of nice because we had Miles as Peter literally in the background as we were kissing. He was making hissing noises which actually added to the sexuality.”
He wanted to rehearse all day, every day
“I just wanted to practice the kissing scene with Shai as much as possible. I’d say ‘Listen, after dinner we could just go over that scene again.’”
But they still had to go at it for more than one take
“The kissing scene with Shai and I, we wanted that to be as good as possible. Because it’s the only scene where [Four and Tris] get together, and we wanted it to be real and not just be lots of cheese. So, we shot that a second time because the first time it didn’t feel right, and we wanted to honor it in the way that it earned. There’s not lots of banging eyelids and fauning towards each other. It’s quite a functional, tough, intricate relationship.”
He likes to joke about sex with Shai
“The full penetration sex was also very awkward.”
He wanted to feel Shailene out…
“When you start a movie, you don’t really know each other, you’re trying to feel each other out. There’s a bit of excitement, nervousness—who are these people? Are they going to piss me off? Or am I going to think they’re awesome? Or whatever. And then as you get to know each other, more true feelings of friendship and caring come in. And that’s the same with Tris and Four.”
We’re betting Theo is pushing for a lot more kissing scenes in Insurgent and with Veronica Roth penning steamy lines like these, we’re all in for a treat:
1. “’Tobias,’ I say, ‘I love you.’ His skin is slippery with water and he smells like sweat and my shirt sticks to his arms when he slides them around me. He presses his face to my neck and kisses me right above the collarbone, kisses my cheek, kisses my lips.”
2. “He holds my face in both hands and kisses me back. I press into the distance between us until it is gone, crushing the secrets we have kept and the suspicions we have harbored-for good, I hope.”
3. “He slides his hand over my cheek, one finger anchored behind my ear. Then he tilts his head down and kisses me, sending a warm ache through my body.
