‘Definitely Not Anticipated’: McBusted Admit Touring As Supergroup Is ‘Triple Their Expectations’

Fans of McFly and Busted have been demanding they team up to form one big supergroup for years and they couldn’t believe their luck when they finally did, but McBusted admit that they are still surprised they have actually gone ahead with the venture, describing it as “triple their expectations”.

The supergroup will embark on a 35-date tour in 2014 to mark their joint venture and will play various cities across the UK including Birmingham, Manchester and London’s O2 Arena. The jaunt has so far proved to be so popular that the band have been forced to add several extra dates and even announced another gig at the British Summertime Hyde Park concert series in July.

With so much to look forward to and the positive response so far, McBusted express their surprise at how well received they have been.

“It was definitely not anticipated,” James Bourne told DigitalSpy. “We didn’t even know if the combination of a supergroup was the right thing. We were getting mixed reviews.”

Harry Judd added: “This is double, no triple our expectations.”

McBusted will be joined by special guests the Backstreet Boys at their Hyde Park show which will take place on July 6 and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Harry reveal they had always longed to play the venue after watching their heroes Red Hot Chili Peppers perform a decade ago.

“We saw Red Hot Chili Peppers there. We thought, ‘Let’s go watch Chilis and see how it’s done’,” Harry said while Tom added: “It was the day before our first ever gig. 10 years later and we’re playing it.”
