David Guetta Denies Taylor Swift Her FIrst UK Number One Single And Ed Sheeran’s Reign Is Over

David Guetta has scored his fifth number one single with his latest smash ‘Lovers On The Sun’ featuring Sam Martin, denying Taylor Swift her first chart-topper in the process.

The French DJ knocked Nico and Vinz off the top spot to claim the coveted title while Taylor’s surprise single ‘Shake It Off’, which stormed straight to the top 5 of the UK Single’s Chart, makes its debut at number four.

The insanely catchy track serves as the lead single for Swifty’s fifth studio album ‘1989’, which the starlet announced last week.

Sharing his excitement, Guetta said: “Wow, this is amazing! The UK has shown me so much love and support over the years, since I was an unknown DJ there.

“To be number one with the first song off my next album is taking a little bit of the pressure off finishing it, which is what I’m doing now.”

Canadian Reggae troupe, Magic! Move up to number three while ‘My Head Is A Jungle’ by Wanklemut and Emma completes this week’s top five. Further down the chart Union J just scrape into the top 10 at number nine with their latest effort ‘Tonight (We Live Forever). The boys looked set to bag their highest chart entry to date in the midweeks at number five, but sales proceeded to dwindle toward the end of the week.

Following a social media campaign to get Cliff Richard’s ‘I Still Believe in You’ to number one, the singer’s classic re-enters the tally at number 57.

Over on the Album Charts, Ed Sheeran’s reign at the top has finally come to an end as ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winners Collabro have landed straight at number one with their debut ‘Stars’, ending Sheeran’s eight-week run. Last week the album became the joint longest number one for a British male solo artist sharing the title with James Blunt’s multi-million selling ‘Back To Bedlam’.

Speaking to the Official Charts Company, Collabro were clearly over the moon with the news, saying: “Seven months ago we didn’t know each other and just three months ago we were still in our day jobs, so our lives have been flipped upside down and now we have an album out on an amazing record label!

“We are so grateful for the whole experience and to our fans for getting us here.”

Manchester rockers The Courteneers have secured their highest charting album to date with ‘Concrete Love’ entering at number three while Sam Smith’s ‘The Lonely Hour’ and George Ezra’s ‘Wanted On Voyage’ round off the top five at numbers four and five respectively.
