Courtney Love Blew $27 Million of ‘Nirvana Money’ With No Regrets

The ‘Hole’ singer has revealed that she has burnt through $27 million made from Nirvana royalties and she has no regrets because she’s lived a rock’n’roll lifestyle. She says she isn’t totally poor as of yet, so isn’t worried about it:

“I know that’s a lifetime of money to most people, but I’m a big girl, it’s rock ‘n roll, it’s Nirvana money, I had to let it go. I make enough to live on, I’m financially solvent, I focus on what I make now.”

She added that she had to take a whole tonne of drugs to keep up with her own finances, which of course makes sense:

“I had to run very fast to look after my money and I felt cocaine helped me do that. So I started taking cocaine and that turned into nine months of crack.”

Courtney says she hasn’t allowed Nirvana music to be used for anything she just doesn’t approve of – even though she has been made some huge offers in the past. She explained that she once turned down millions for just 18 seconds of one song:

“I’ve protected it [the Nirvana catalogue] from everything from Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials to movies about board games. We’ve been offered $6 million for 18 seconds of one Nirvana song and I turned it down.”
